Dreams By Langston Hughes
Dreams
Langston Hughes
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
Summary:
In
this poem, the speaker tells the readers to hold their dreams firmly. The
people who don’t have dreams are like broken-winged birds. Broken-winged birds
cannot fly in the sky. In the same way, the people who don’t have dreams can’t succeed
in life. The people who don’t have dreams lead an infertile and unproductive
life.
